Campaign Best Practices

"Fun"draisers
  • Books are Fun of Reader's Digest - These sell for $25, and we make $5 on each book. They set up their book sale on your premises. If you are located close to another agency or business that may bring traffic, this may be a good idea. (having large signs outside to advertise it to the general public may help too)....get some holiday shopping out of the way early!
  • Bake Sale – DSS has found that asking people for donations for baked goods rather than pricing then gets more money raised. This is taking into consideration that all the items made are donated for the event.
  • CVC Festival - several independent vendors come in and sell products for a few hours. We do this in conjunction with a Christmas cookie contest.
  • Baby Picture Voting- Employees bring baby pictures from home and you guys who (for one donation per guess).
  • Morning Break-breakfast donated by employees and local businesses. Donations taken from those partaking. (ie local restaurants can donate day-old baked goods for a CVC table held every week).
  • Embarrass the Manager-requires a willing manager. Have employees submit their suggestions plus a minimum of dollar donation to get their suggestion considered.  (this could potentially turn into an auction if you want to raise more funds). The manager will have the review the suggestion (i.e. dressing up in a costume for the entire day, having a surprise prank played on them, etc). GOOD TASTE REQUIRED
  • Employee Majesty - Have each employee donated a dollar for their favorite co-worker. The co-worker with the most votes gets a ride in a limo to work and lunch. Helps if a limo company will donate the ride.
  • Have drawings at the Kick-Off for those who sign up as "early birds".
  • Have a drawing for a prize at the end of every week. Those eligible are the ones who have turned in their pledge cards.
  • Have a week of activities and games related to CVC.
  • Design holiday cards. All proceeds go to the CVC.
  • Assemble coupon books that include restaurants, cleaners and theaters to use as prizes or for proceeds.
  • Denim Days - people donate for the privilege of wearing denim on Fridays.
  • Contest for a week's use of the most desirable parking spaces.
